Rodimus whirled towards Kickback and frowned at him. "What are you still doing here?" he growled. "Get out of here while you still can! I ordered Hotshot to escort you out of here. You have long legs, so you can jump over that log and escape to the lake. The fire won't reach it because we're holding it back for as long as we can. Go now!" He didn't mean to snap at the Kickback, but his concern for the safety of the others was the only thing that kept him from going anywhere. If he stayed behind to slow the fire down and prevent it from reaching the others, then maybe he'll do more than save lives. He could save a portion of the forest, perhaps enough to prevent anymore disasters from happening. "Please get out of here," he said to Kickback slowly. "Tell Hotshot and the others that we'll catch up with them. I know how stubborn Hotshot can be, but I need someone to keep an eye on him until our return. Please? Go while you're still whole and breathing." He turned his attention back to Moonshriek and his optics softened a little bit to show his concern and unsureness of what they could accomplish their mission to save the forest. "If we do manage to save what is left of the forest, I'm naming it after you." He then gave Moonshriek a reassuring squeeze and motioned her to go on ahead of him to get some more water. The trailer would follow without a complaint because he was in control of it.

Moonshriek laughed, then looked nervous about leaving him behind. "If I take the trailer, you won't have any water to work with...."

Rodimus emitted a warm smile. He knew exactly what he was doing. "Do not worry about me, Moon," he said reassuringly as he gently rubbed her back with his fingers, "Trust me. I know what I'm doing. I just want you to trust my judgement on this. The humans always said that the ground always comes in handy." Still smiling, Rodimus shifted into his vehicle mode, did a 180 degree turn, placed his bonnet firmly against a strong tree trunk and used his wheels to start kicking up dirt. The dirt, combined with the water he and Moonshriek had sprayed, spluttered beneath his tyres and slowly started to put out the fire. The mud covered up the flames, leaving smoke and ashes behind in his wake. While he worked, some of the mud caked his frame, but the Autobot did not care about his paint job. The only thing that mattered to him was the safety of his friends and Moonshriek. "Go on, Moon, you won't be leaving me behind; just doing me a favour, is all."

Moonshriek smiled, she had heard the human term 'mudding' before, but knew it didn't mean anything like this. She led the trailer back to the lake, dodging the burning limbs in her path.

If Rodimus had his head, he would've smiled his appreciation to Moonshriek, but now was not the time to be concentrating on that. His task of slowing the fire down was more important, he knew that Moonshriek could handle herself. The only thing that worried him about her was her delicate wing membranes. "I'll be waiting for you, Moon," he whispered as he went back to work. The fire was only half out, but they still had some ways left to go. If only the Decepticon hadn't chosen this place to attack, then neither of this would've happened.

Moonshriek, now that she knew the mechanisms better, was able to fill the trailer in half the time. "I'm coming, Rodimus..." She murmured, a determined spark in her eyes.

Rodimus backed up again and spluttered more mud over the fire that was raging furiously behind him. At least half of it was gone, but there was still a lot of work to do. It annoyed him to the core of his Spark, but at least they were almost finished. If Moonshriek hurried with the next load of water, then they may be able let the rest die off on its own and get out while they still lived and functioned. 'Not long now, Roddy,' he thought to himself. 'You're almost there. You and Moonshriek will be out of this place before you even know it and will be able to reassure Hotshot by the time you get back.'

Moonshriek landed almost unnoticed on his roof, tapping it slightly with her talon to signal the trailer was back, with more water. She smiled, taking flight in case he wanted to transform, and headed to get a hose and start with the fire again.

Rodimus nearly jumped out of his armour as Moonshriek tapped him on the roof. He transformed to his vehicle mode and glanced down at her, blinking his blue optics to clear away the shock. He smiled and nodded his thanks for arriving back. He was getting tired and he knew that he was going to collapse any second if he did not stop his work. But he couldn't stop, the fire was almost out and then everything would be ok. "Thanks for coming so soon, Moon," he said, nodding towards her again. "We're almost done, and once we are, we can get out of here and rejoin the others up at the lake." Rodimus glanced over at the dying flames. They were nothing but embers that jumped here and there. The fire was small and almost under control. Soon enough, this place would be safe and only ashes would be left in its place. "You can release it whenever you're ready." Once again, Rodimus had covered Moonshriek with his cloak so that he could protect her back while she sprayed the rest of the flames.

Moonshriek grabbed the release catch in her talons, throwing all of her weight into it. It fell, slowly, and water stared to spray out of the hose. She aimed in at the remainder of the flames, thankful for the safety of Rodimus's cloak around her. She could sense his exhaustion, and was slightly worried about what would happen if he collapsed before they made it out.

As Moonshriek finished off with the last of the flames, Rodimus staggered a little as his vision began to blur from the ongoing heat. He shook his head to clear his mind, but it was becoming impossible to shake off the feeling of wanting to faint from the fire that was beginning to cloud his field of vision. 'Come on, Roddy,' he thought, 'you're almost there. Don't faint right now!' Rodimus rubbed his forehead a bit to clear the beads of oil that had started to gather from the heat of the flames. He knew he couldn't handle the situation much longer, but he was determined to endure it for the benefit of himself and Moonshriek. Without him, how was Moonshriek going to get out of this place? "Just a few more flames and we'll be home free," Rodimus encouraged.

Moonshriek leaned against his neck, as if trying to give him energy. "You can do it. We can do it."

Without needing anymore words other than 'we can do it', Rodimus gave it his all. In a sudden flurry of movement, the hoses that were busy spraying water suddenly burst into life. It flowed out of them like a foaming waterfall and wouldn't calm down until the last of the flames died down. There was nothing left but a huge patch of ash on the ground and on some of the trees. Some of the trees had been burnt to a crisp, but most of them were still alive and well. Glad that the fire was finally out, Rodimus looked over at Moonshriek and he beamed with pride towards her, showing his gratitude and his appreciation for her help. "We... we did it," he wheezed tiredly. "We actually did it." He staggered once more, but he refused to fall. As soon as he and Moonshriek returned to base, he would be climbing into his recharge berth and sleeping the rest of the day away. His cooling systems were practically on fire as he tried to ease his breathing. Exhausted, but triumphant, he was really glad that it was over. "Shall we go back to the lake to ease off everyone's fears?"

Moonshriek looked into his glowing eyes, hers shining as well. "I'll go. You need to get some rest, head back to base." If he tried to object, she gave him a stern tap with her wing and flew away, towards the others.
