Prologue
Dark…Dark… it’s always so dark… and…
“Forgive me as I bid our bonding farewell, little Len. But now it’s your time to shine. Don’t disappoint me now. You were very hard work for a low scientist like me” a husk voice spoke from the other side of the green tinted glass of the container which held the girl captive. She bitterly watched as the silhouette of a man walked away, then felt the liquid that held her afloat disappearing. She was being released? As the water reached her ankles, she weakly pushed her figure up against the green curved walls, slowly slipping down to the ground. When the liquid was completely drained, she continued to lye there, her bare being huddled against her knees as her arms locked around them.
Suddenly, a large pop sound escaped the top of her containment, followed by a loud air leak until the walls cracked from the top, leaking the fresh air. Another round of mysterious noises patterned as they made their way into the ground, down to the point of which the top of the walls were even with the ground Len laid. Her golden eyes held open lightly, as if they had no life to show.
“Get her cleaned up, then dressed. The capsule will be here soon” the same husk voice demanded, ice at his tongue. Two women and one man surrounded her body now. Fear vibed up her spine. Her vision still clouded from the minerals in the liquid as she tried to make out faces. It had been the man who picked her up and carried her to another room. It had been the two women who dried her off and dressed her. It had been herself to just sit there, unable to get her body to function.
“Numb…” she spoke, her voice very rough and unable to understand to ordinary ears. Though it was only because she had inhaled so much of the contaminated liquid she was kept in, and Dr. Doroshi was use to her slur of an accent.
“I see. The medicine still hasn’t worn off? Its’ all in luck for you, little Len. If you stay numb until you reach space, you won’t even have to fight the pain against bursting through the atmosphere” the voice chirped. As the pane glass door slid open to reveal the master mind behind the green shaded walls, Len could only stare in awe, unable to find her words to the man.
The man who poked her with needles, despite her sensitivity to such fear. The man who used every possible vaccine he could get his hands on, and infection to go along with it. The man who never showed his face to his so called daughter when she was going through all the pain.
“Whereryu…taking me?” the lavender haired child asked, her eyes very weak and innocent.
“I’m only taking you to your new home. Then from there out, it is all decided to you, my little Len, of where you’ll end up. Space is a big world, much bigger than our own. And you’ll be the first to explore it all” the man smiled, waving his hands to emphasize the matters of space and time.
Within seconds, a man dressed much differently from the ones Len was use to seeing walked in. He was in uniform of some type, and wore a cap with a label she couldn’t make out for the distance. He didn’t wear dark glasses like this man who spoke of space, nor did he wear the matching white cloaks that everyone in the facility had. He scared her.
“Dr. Doroshi, Sir. The capsule is here and prepared for use” the strange man saluted. Doroshi nodded, a light hearted smile upon his lips as he turned back to Len. She peered back at him, dull eyes in confusion.
“Little Len, it is time.”
“Time?"
“Time for you to make daddy very happy.”
